What is Panchakarma?
Panchkarma is a very profound purification and rejuvenation program that balances the body, mind and consciousness and is the central aspect of Ayurveda’s rejuvenation program. Panchakarma promotes health, longevity, and happiness through soothing herbal treatments, using massage and related Ayurvedic procedures.
How many hours does a Panchakarma treatment take?
Most programs are between five and six hours per day. This does not include the optional but highly recommended programs outlined in the Health & Wellness section.
Is my treatment medically supervised?
Our resident Vaidya (Ayurvedic Doctor) sets up your Ayurvedic treatment program and monitors your progress throughout.
What should I bring with me?
We advise our guests to arrive here with as little as possible. For your stay at Amaravati you will need to bring loose fitting clothes including a light bathrobe. If you are planning to visit some of the attractions around Chiang Mai you will also need suitable clothes for this. From November to February it is a little cool in the mornings and evenings so we suggest bringing some heavier clothing if you're coming at this time.
Will I be able to do any
sight
seeing while receiving Ayurvedic Rejuvenation Therapy?
Due to the delicate nature of the purification and detoxification experienced during Panchakarama, [Ayurevda Rejuvenation Therapy], it is recommended that guests stay within the beautiful grounds of the Amaravati residence, during the days of their treatments.
The exception to this policy, is when guests are in the Panchakarma preparation period, during the first days of their treatments. During this time, guests may enjoy leaving the grounds to take advantage of some of the local attractions, such as elephant rides and the Orchid and Butterfly Gardens.
Is Meditation and Yoga instruction mandatory?
Although not a prerequisite, we highly recommend participating in meditation instruction and Raja Yoga classes as this aids the healing and rejuvenation process. If you are currently doing a meditation program we advise that you include this in your daily routine while at Amaravati.
Can my partner share a room with me even though he/she will not be taking Panchakarma treatments?
Yes, this is allowed. While at Amaravati, your partner may like to take advantage of the other health and spiritual activities we offer. Please refer to the Health & Wellness and Spiritual Programs sections for more information.
